Well done to the Donegal u-17 hurlers who were victorious 4-13 to 3-11 in Kingspan Breffni Park this afternoon in their Celtic Challenge Tom Hogan Cup quarterfinal.
A fifth minute goal from Thomas McMenamin set them on their way and while Cavan pulled back to level the scores by the 1oth minute a Eoghan Walsh goal and a second from McMenamin put Donegal within a minute put Donegal back in the in the driving seat. At HT it was 1-7 to 3-5 as Cavan stayed in touch. The Cavan boys would score two further goals in the second period but the Donegal boys always kept their noses in front.
Commiserations to a brave Cavan side who were within two points 3-11 to 3-13 at the end of normal time before a late late Donegal goal sealed the result.
