Donegal 1-16 Armagh 0-12
May 8th is the latest important date on the Donegal GAA Senior football calendar after they defeated Armagh by seven points in the Ulster Championship quarterfinal this afternoon in Ballybofey. That is the date of the first of the 2022 Ulster SFC when Donegal will play Cavan who defeated Antrim yesterday in Corrigan Park, Belfast.
Donegal were quick out of the blocks with points on the board from Eoghan Ban Gallagher and Michael Murphy within the first few minutes. Donegal went on to dominate the half with 20 shots on goals compared to Armagh’s 8 but only led by three points at the break hitting 0-9 to 0-6. Playing with the breeze Armagh began the second period at 100 mph but Donegal weathered the early storm, Shane O’Donnell hit the first score of the half 8 minutes in and three minutes later Paddy McBrearty palmed to the net for the game’s only goal. A disciplined and controlled Donegal performance seen them manage out the rest of the game.
