A valuable two league points were secured this evening with Donegal’s four point win over Tyrone in fortress Ballybofey. Over thirty minutes gone in the first half, 0-7 to 0-3 down with a strong breeze in their backs and the home side’s more than ten year record of not losing Allianz league games in Ballybofey looked in danger. However, a sweeping move finished to the net by Conor O’Donnell and a superb long range point from Jason McGee left it level at the break and set the scene for a ding-dong second half battle.
There was never more than a single point between the sides throughout the second half but when it mattered an Oisin Gallen score put Donegal ahead at the end of normal time, In added time a Jeaic McKelvey goal sealed another in the long line of home victories in Páirc Sheáin MacCumhaill. With an all round busy performance and scoring 1-3 from play Conor O’Donnell was named the Allianz Man of the Match.
