Covid 19 is dominating the lives of almost everyone at present and it is great to see so many of our clubs and their members rallying around to provide help and assistance where required. With many people self-isolating, kids home from school and others unfortunate to be temporarily out of work or on short time, battling cabin fever is an issue. Well done to our GDM, Aaron Kyles, and many of Donegal’s hurling and football stars who are providing training videos and challenges for some of our younger members in particular. Bradas Video Productions also been uploading memorable Donegal videos to our Facebook and Youtube pages to provide some positivity in these trying times.
At GAA HQ, in the hope that they can engage, entertain, and distract for even a few moments through the power and reach of their online channels, they have been working (and continue to do so!) on as much content as they can to tick all of those boxes. Some of it is ramped up content that is pure distraction while other pieces carry more weight and responsibility.
Full Games – The GAA have started to upload full archive matches to the OfficialGAA YouTube channel. For the moment games are chosen at random but will move into more themed stuff shortly. None of us know how long this situation is likely to last but as long as it does, the GAA will keep these games coming! The usual GAANOWRewind content schedule will continue as normal during this time too.
GAA Golden Moments GAA HQ hope to see engagement from County channels and our community of – GAA Golden Moments. A #GAAGoldenMoments package for EVERY County will be created over the next and people will be asked what #GAAGoldenMoments they want included.
HSE/Player campaign The HSE have coordinated a series of video messages with players that carry the messages we all need to know about Covid 19. This #ItsInOurHands campaign was launched today across GAA/GPA channels.
General HSE messaging The GAA will be sharing HSE messaging that comes from their channels: @HSELive @hpscireland @roinnslainte @CMOireland.
Other ‘stuff’ We know that people are going to get bored/cabin fever at home. We also know that people kids are going to be 10 times as bad, so the GAA are working on creating lost of things to keep people entertained. Things that aren’t video! Think (kitchen) table quizes, colouring for kids, crosswords, a kids’ writing competition.
