Club Officer Training in January

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Thu 2nd Jan

Ulster GAA is aligning with the National Leadership Programme to streamline all training for club officers and minimise the demands on the time of club volunteers, while still providing high quality essential training to empower club officers in their roles going forward in 2020. The training will be delivered at Coláiste Ailigh, Letterkenny (also available at three other venues in Ulster) and will include two training sessions. The first session is role specific training for people new to their roles in 2020 or any officer wishing to update their skills and knowledge. The second session is topic specific, dealing with key issues facing GAA clubs in 2020 and is open to all Club Officers/Volunteers. Clubs are encouraged to ensure that their club is represented at all these training sessions.

Specific officer training will be available for: Chairperson; Secretary; Treasurer; PRO; Development Officer; Coaching Officer (all coaches welcome); and Irish Language & Culture Officer. All training takes place from 6:30pm-9pm and will be available in Coláiste Ailigh on Thursday 16th January.

The Club Officer Development Training provides club officers with topic specific workshops to prepare them for their duties over the coming year.  All clubs are asked to send at least 4 representatives. Again, training takes place from 6:30pm-9pm in Coláister Ailigh and the date is Thursday 30th January. Topics are:

  • Doing Things Right – Good Governance in your GAA Club;
  • Recruiting, Retaining and Engaging Volunteers;
  • Getting Work Done in Office 365;
  • Health and wellbeing.

The other three Ulster venues are Largy College, Clones, St Pius X Magherafelt and St Paul’s High School Bessbrook. Registration is essential as places are limited for all workshops. To register log onto www.ulster.gaa.ie/officertraining
