County Chairman Mick Mc Grath welcomed the news this week about a new partnership between CLG Dhún na nGall and the Abbey Vocational School and Abbey Hotel. He expressed was delight that such a Partnership was put in place, adding”

This is a very timely boost, and I would congratulate all the individuals in the negotiations, in what is a well thought out Partnership which can benefit all involved. It’s a vital ingredient for all students that Physical Education and facilities are available in the sports mad County we live in. In particular I thank our Games Development Manager Aaron Kyles who was given the task of sourcing and brokering this partnership. Geraldine Diver the Abbey Vocational Schools Principal comes from a strong sporting background, and her belief in giving her students an opportunity to express themselves in sport is a strong testimony to the confidence she builds in her students. Once again Liam Clancy from the Abbey Hotel has endorsed his support to the Donegal GAA, and we thank him for that strength and belief. Many players in development mould and the existing inter county squads in South Donegal, will now have the facilities at their disposal to improve their fitness at top class standards.

Discussions have been taking place with Geraldine Diver the principal at the Abbey Vocational School and the GAA’s Games Development Manager Aaron Kyles over the last few weeks. New equipment for the schools gymnasium has arrived in recent days and Liam Clancy from the Abbey Hotel has generously agreed to sponsor the fit out. It’s expected that an Official Launch shall take place before the reopening of the school at the end of this month, and this positive news is a welcome to the continued development of GAA players in the area
