Four Masters are Division 2 Feile Champions 2019

Four Masters’ youngsters done their town, county, coaches, supporters and themselves proud with a fantastic weekend at the John West Feile Peile 2019, winning the Division 2 trophy. Given that there are 13 boys’ divisions they were playing at a very high level with the cream of Ireland’s crop of u-14 footballers.

In the final the defeated Claremorris, having accounted for Castlebar Mitchels in a Sunday lunchtime game and Senchalstown in the quarterfinal on Saturday evening in what was probably the tightest of their six games.

Final:                         Four Masters          1-9            Claremorris                                0-5

Semi-final:               Four Masters          2-6            Castlebar Mitchels                  0-3

Qtr.-final:                 Four Masters          1-5            Senchalstown                           1-2

In the group stage they were unbeaten in Section A comfortably accounting for all three of the opposing teams – St Michael’s from Galway City, Portarlington and their host club, Ballinasloe.

Four Masters          3-7            St Michaels             0-3

Portarlington           1-1            Four Masters          2-8

Four Masters          5-9            Ballinasloe               0-3

There is a homecoming for the victorious team this evening in Donegal town with the cavalcade arriving in the Diamond around 8.45 to 9.00.

While enormous credit goes to the Donegal town boys the other four Donegal clubs at Feile also performed valiantly. Between them the boys teams – the others were Aodh Ruadh, Killybegs and Glenfin – played 18 games, winning thirteen and losing just five, while An Clochán Liath carried the flag proudly for the ladies.
