Ulster GAA, Young Leaders Academy 2019

Ulster GAA has now opened applications for 2019 Young Leaders Academy.  This prestigious programme is open to young GAA volunteers (aged 16-24 years) across all nine Ulster Counties, with spaces limited to 3 per county.

The Young Leaders Programme consists of a Leadership Academy which takes place on 25th & 26th July and 1st and 2nd August in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh. During the academy the young leaders will develop their knowledge and understanding of key GAA and issues relating to sport.  They will complete 9 modules: Introduction to GAA, Sports Science, GAA Foundation Award, GAA Child Protection Award, HeartStart Award, Sport Nutrition & Lifestyle, GAA for All (Working with people with disabilities), Sports Communications, Event Management and Volunteer Recruitment.  During the academy the young leaders will also have the opportunity to participate in Roundser, Hurling/Camogie and Wheelchair hurling in a fun and non competitive environment.

As part of this programme, the young people will be expected to complete 25 hours volunteering back in their club and will be required to submit a short final report.  All participants will receive 50 hours GoldMark Award and will be enrolled in the joint award initiative which will lead to an award in Gaisce or Duke of Edinburgh.

Other volunteering and engagement opportunities  as well as further skills development will be offered to successful participants following this programme.

Last year, 33 young people participated in this programme and the feedback was hugely positive

This is a fantastic opportunity for young GAA members and will help prepare the young volunteers to become GAA leaders in the future as well as adding real value to their CVs and University applications.

APPLY TODAY: Log onto for full information and an application form. DEADLINE for applications is strictly 5pm on 15th July.
