Declan Bonner and Eoghan Ban Gallagher met the press yesterday in the run-in to the heavyweight semi-final class with Tyrone on Saturday evening in Kingspan Breffni Park. Donegal are determined to still be playing championship football in the Super 8s in July but much their preferred route, and ditto for Tyrone, will be to do so as Ulster champions. The Ulster championship is the most competitive in the country and while Tyrone, Donegal and Monaghan have dominated the last few years it would be fair to say any one of six or seven teams could have won it this year and all four semi-finalist are still in contention. Winning Ulster is highly prized by all the players on both sides and this promises to be a fascinating match-up.
Donegal are, of course, reigning Ulster champions and Tyrone held that distinction in 2017. “It’s a place you want to be … and this is why the boys train hard through the winter” according to Declan. Tyrone have set the benchmark for Ulster football and there is plenty of mutual respect, but fierce rivalry, and it is a game Donegal want to win. There are still tickets available at

or in local SuperValu and Centra stores.
The game will be preceded by the LGFA Ulster Championship quarterfinal, also between Donegal and Tyrone, with throw-in at 2.45 pm.
