Martin Fogarty (National Hurling Development Manager) is in Donegal on Tuesday & Wednesday evening June 6th & 7th. to do coach education workshops for the county. He is a valuable resource and we should take every opportunity to use his vast experience.
Martin has been recently appointed to the role of National Hurling Development Manager. Prior to his appointment he worked as a Primary School Teacher for 38 Years. He has been involved at all levels with his Club, Erin’s Own Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny as a player and Club officer, serving terms both as Chairman and Secretary. He managed Kilkenny U-21 hurlers to two All-Ireland Titles and worked as a selector/coach with the Senior team from 2005-2013, during which time they won six All-Ireland, seven Leinster and Five National League titles.
On Tuesday evening all club coaches in the county are encouraged to attend a workshop in the Centre of Excellence Convoy starting at 7pm.
As Martin Fogarty will be working with the club coaches on Tuesday the hurling committee have asked all clubs are asked to bring their U14 development squad players to Convoy for 6.45pm on Tuesday.
This is a opportunity that cannot be missed and I can not emphasis the importance of all club coaches attending from U8 to senior.
I myself and minor management attended one of his workshops back in February and the simplicity he brought to coaching our great game ensures that Tuesday night will be a very worthwhile exercise for the county.
