Senior Ladies Football

The Senior Ladies had a great win against Milford ladies on Sunday morning. Milford travelled with small numbers so the game was played at 13 aside. The Carn ladies got off to a great start with Sallymarie McClure opening the score with a goal in the first 5 minutes. Sally’s first shot at goal was saved by the keeper and went out for a 45. Anita Doherty took the 45 and her shot rebounded off the post straight into the hands of Sallymarie, she made no mistake hitting the net the 2nd time. Anita Doherty followed up shortly after with a great point. The Milford girls were quick to counter attack but the Carn defence line were holding strong, it took Milford 10 minutes to register their first score. The Carn girls worked very well as a team, Anita Doherty and Una Burke had control of the midfield and linking up with Trudi McLaughlin, Georgina Gordon and Sheila Doherty, there was no stopping them going forward. Danielle McDaid registered a great goal for Carn before the end of the first half. The half time score was 2-04 to 0-03 for Carn. There were a few changes in the second half for Carn but the girls continued to play well and work together. Milford began to claw back a bit of the lead Carn had but their efforts weren’t enough to make a difference to the final score. Carn did miss a few chances throughout the game but they were in a comfortable position that it didn’t matter too much. The game ended Carn 3-08 to 1-08. Best wishes to Trudi McLaughlin as she heads off to America on Friday for a couple of months.

Mens Senior and Reserve Football

The Philadelphia Cup got underway on Wednesday evening with a trip to Naomh Colmcille for us. A strong first half set the foundation for a hard earned win. Goals from Aaron McCarron, Christy McCormick and Kieran Canny proved crucial. There were strong performances from all over the pitch and the game was a chance to give players a much needed run out. The big downside was an injury suffered by Conor Doherty and we wish him a speedy recovery. The final score was Naomh Colmcille 1-15 Carndonagh 2-10. The team on the evening was Kieran Canny, Eoghan Kelly, Paddy McLaughlin (M), Nathan McLarkey, Tiarnan Coyne, JJ Doherty, Michael Nelson, Conor Doherty, Paddy Nelson, Aaron McCarron, Conor Fagan, Ben Lafferty, Shane Doherty (G), Dermot Doherty (B), and Christy McCormick. Sub: Paul Lafferty.

The Intermediate Championship began for our Senior team on Saturday evening. With a number of players involved in exams and some injuries the squad that was available to play was light. Milford proved too strong and the game ended Carn 0-03 Milford 2-15. The team on the evening was Dermot Doherty, Michael Nelson, Ryan Davenport, Nathan McLarkey, Tiarnan Coyne, Padraig Doherty, James Monagle, Dermot McGonagle, Ryan Kelly, Fergal Doherty, Gerard Doherty, Paddy Nelson, Ben Lafferty, Paddy McLaughlin, and JJ Doherty. Sub: Kieran Canny.

Our Under 8 boys and girls played Malin on Thursday evening in Malin. We had over 40 children involved and it was a pleasure to see them all represent their club so well.

Under 10 Boys Football

Our Under 10 boys hosted Malin on Saturday afternoon, at a sun soaked Foden. The quality of Gaelic football being played by all teams matched the idyllic weather, they all put on a fantastic display which their parents too enjoyed. It was brilliant to hear the teams applaud each other after the match as a sign of respect for each other. Thanks to Malin for such a great contest, well done to all those involved. A huge thank you to Darragh and Donal for a magnificent performance as referees, without them the games could not have gone ahead, they are a credit to the club, and this was noted by the Malin coaches. Their next match will be against Burt next weekend-details will available on facebook.

Under 12 Girls Football

Our under 12 girls were away to Burt on Saturday morning. The girls gave a great team performance and won by 10 points.

Under 12 Boys Football

Under 12 Camogie

Our Under 12 Camogie girls had a good win over Burt on Monday evening. On a sunny evening in Foden the girls played a tough battle to emerge victorious against Burt. After a great game of camogie Carn won by 4 goals to Burts 2 goals. Well done to all girls and coaches on a very exciting game.

Under 14 Camogie

Our Under 14 Camogie girls had a good start in their game against Four Masters on Friday evening. They had most of the possession in the first half but found it difficult to break down the oppositions defence and unfortunately none of their efforts were rewarded. While all girls contributed the younger girls of Darina Gillen, Ciara O’Donnell, Maeve Butler and Blaithin Toland really stood up to the challenge. Full time score Carndonagh 0-0 Four Masters 5-0. Training continues on a Thursday at 6pm.

Under 16 Camogie

Our Under 16 Girls Camogie training continues every Friday evening at 5.30pm in Foden.

Hurl with Me Program

The Hurl with Me Program is for parents of under 8/10 camogie players who wish to get involved and play camogie with their daughter. It is a six program on a Thursday at 6pm, the same time as the camogie girls are training. It’s fun, non-intensive and has proved enjoyable for all concerned. If you are interested and want more details please contact Mary on 0861601646.

Well done
