Minor Ulster Shield Semi-final
The Donegal minor hurlers take on Monaghan in MacCumhaill Park this Friday 15th April in the Ulster Shield semi-final,PLEASE BE IN THE GROUNDS FOR 7.30PM
This is the first outing of the year for the entire minor panel who are hoping to reach the finals the following Friday. For the last three years the team competed in the Ulster Championship proper.
Many of the squad have played in the Celtic Challenge Cup which is for players not sitting their leaving cert this June. This proved hugely beneficial to the team with many players taking on bigger responsibility and stepping into the void left by leaving cert players. The team gelled and progressed with each game, gaining in confidence and belief in their ability. Monaghan have yet to play any Celtic Challenge Cup matches and the Donegal Minor management hope this experience will prove decisive against Monaghan.
Put simply the team must deliver in this competition. They were put back into the shield based on results of previous years and they now need to prove through their results that they are indeed worthy of a place in the Ulster Minor Championship. First they must overcome Monaghan.
A number of players stepped up to the mark during the Celtic Challenge Cup campaign. Players came to the fore who may not have done so beforehand. Numbers have being bolstered with the return of some of the minors in their last year. The challenge for this group of players is now to play to the best of their ability and overcome Monaghan.
Your support is certainly needed in this.
