Sally in Kenya

*Ray of Sunshine Foundation*
From our Childrens Officer Sally O’Donnell:

“A special thank you to Clg Baile na nGalloglach, Milford, for the GAA kit, which went down a treat with the children in Kenya
I had the great pleasure of being one of 23 volunteers who travelled to Mtwapa, Kenya last month as part of a collaboration with the Ray of Sunshine Foundation. We went to help build a Rescue Centre for abused children who have been trafficked in the sex trade from as young as three years old. They rely on the charity to bring some hope into their lives, and together, we helped complete the build of the Rescue Centre where the children will have access to support, medical care, nutrition, education and a caring environment to give them a chance of recovery.Children in the western world take so much for granted. The children I met in Kenya have very little, but it was heartening to watch them get such joy from so little and it reminded me of my own childhood. ”

*Seniors*
CLG BnaG 1-8 Cloughaneely 0-13
Na Galloglaighs first game of the season on Saturday ended in defeat in a result which probably has more positives than negatives. The men would have learned a lot from what is needed at this level and had they had a more clinical edge could have won the game by a few points on another day. They got off to a great start scoring 2 points in the opening few minutes but were kept scoreless for a long period of the first half as they squandered a lot of ball. Cloughaneely on the other hand took every chance they had and were almost out of sight at half time only for a Brandon Toye goal late in the half giving Na Galloglaigh a lifeline with the score at the break 1-3 to 0-9. The second half was much improved from the boys in blue and they were soon level. They kept the Falcarragh men scoreless until the last 5 minutes or so but had issues with putting the ball over the bar themselves. It was a tight physical battle and despite missing several chances Na Galloglaigh almost nicked it at the death only for the ball to come back off the crossbar. In the end Cloughaneely hung on to win by two but Na Galloglaigh would have learned a lot about what is needed at this higher level, and will hope to put it into practice on Easter Monday away to Naomh Mhuire. Team: Sean Gallagher, Tj Evesson, Barry McNulty, Brandon Toye (1-0), Gary Merritt, Paddy Peoples, Anthony Fisher (0-1), Luke Barrett (0-2), Sean Black, Darragh Black, Christopher Barrett (0-1), Jonny Logue, David Curley, Pauric Curley (0-1), Cathal Mc Gettigan (0-3). Subs: Joey Cullen for C Barrett (7m, BC), Kyle Black for D Curley (50m), PJ Hagan for Logue (55m), Adam Serrinha, Kieran Sheridan, Gavin McFadden

*Division 2*
