Donegal to be well represented in the Ulster Scór Final

By PRO Donegal Mon 15th Feb

Saturday night was one of the great and memorable nights for Donegal Scór in Ulster. Comhghairdeas le Catriona Solan who got through to the Ulster final in the solo singing competition following her flawless rendition of “THE LAST FAREWELL”. Catriona is joined in the Ulster final by Lisa O’Donnell from Glenswilly who had the crowd in stitches with her rendition of “MARY ANN MCGEE”. Glenswilly had further success on the night when the Léiriú team qualified for the Ulster final with a tremendous short play about the 1916 Rising. Baile na nGallóglach (Milford) rounded off the great night for Donegal when their instrumental group raised the roof and became the fourth Donegal act on the night to qualify for the Ulster final in Downpatrick on Saturday next (20th February at 5.00pm). The Ceilí Dancers from St. Nauls and the Ballad group from Moville also gave a great account of themselves but came up against very stiff opposition on the night with many of the clubs from Derry, Down and Tyrone that they were up against being former Ulster and All Ireland champions in the ballad group and ceilí dancing competitions.

This is one of the best nights in many years for Donegal at Ulster level and while we have no silverware yet, we are definitely going in the right direction.

We wish all our competitors the very best of luck on Saturday when they will represent their clubs and county in the Ulster final and there is no doubt that the talent is there to book places in the All Ireland finals in April. Go néirigh go geal leo go léir. Dún na nGall ABÚ.
