By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Thu 22nd Oct

We would like to extend our sympathies to our Club Treasurer, John McNamara, and his wife, Tricia Fiztpatrick on the death of Tricia’s mother, Mrs Pearl Fitzpatrick, Belturbet, Co Cavan. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Congratulations to the Senior ladies who booked their place in the Ulster Final on Sunday last with a hard earned victory over Errigal Ciaran. The final will be played on Saturday 31st October at 2.30 pm against old rivals Donaghmoyne, venue tbc.

U13Girls: The girls wrapped up a very successful year by winning the A championship in O’Donnell park last Friday beating Naomh Conaill. The girls put in a classy performance from start to end. They have won themselves the opportunity now of representing Donegal in the All-Ireland Feile Pheil na nÓg competition in Kerry next year. Kerry won’t know what’s hit them next June when this great bunch of girls go looking for an All Ireland title. Huge congratulations to the girls and thanks to them and their parents for the hard work all year, thanks to the Craoibhin for the great reception and to the supporters for cheering them on, much appreciated. Finally, congratulations and thank you to Lisa and Harry McGlynn for their meticulous preparation of the team thoughout the year.

Coaching courses for next season will be running off shortly, only coaches/mentors who have completed at least Foundation and child protection will be allowed to look after teams, anyone interested in courses can contact our Coaching Officer, Paddy McMenamin on 0872175234.

Coaching Forum: Good luck to Rionach Giles and Eimear Alcorn who are attending the GAA Youth Forum being held in Croke Park on Saturday, this is a great opportunity for the 2 girls.

County Dev Squads Well done to Eimear, Mya, Sarah and Ciara who travelled to the mid Ulster arena in Cookstown on Saturday. The 4 girls did very well, this week it’s the turn of our U15 girls who travel to the same venue for development blitz.

SENIOR MEN The senior team lost out to Glenswilly in a good game of football on Saturday last in the first of the semi-finals of the Tommy Ryan cup. Several goal chances just missed the mark on Saturday in this high scoring affair, with just ten minutes to go, only a point separated the two teams before Glenswilly netted and pulled away to take victory.

There will be no league games this weekend for either senior or reserve teams. The remaining two league games are scheduled for Sunday 1st and Sunday 8th November, tbc.

UNDER 21s: The Under 21s are due to play St Eunan’s in the A Quarter Final on Bank Holiday Monday at 2 o’clock in Glenswilly.

This week’s lotto draw will take place in Nora’s, Kilmacrennan, with Joe O’Connell and Pauric Hilferty co-ordinating and jackpot of €3,450.

Best of luck to our U13 boys who contest the NRB Division 1 Final this Sunday in Milford. It’s a 2pm throw in with neighbours St Eunans providing the opposition. Paddy and James have worked these boys hard over the past 2 months so hopefully the boys will put in a good performance reflecting this. Good luck to everyone involved.
