Bord na nÓg / Cumann na mBan MINOR LADIES Gaeil Fhánada 3-08 Baile na nGalloglach0-02 The minor ladies had a very decisive win over local rivals Milford on Friday night .In a very low scoring first half Fanad found it very hard to break down Milford’s defense. It was Milford who put it between the posts first with a point in the 4th minute. With Fanad’s goalkeeper Rosheen Mc Ginley in great kicking form Fanad countered with Fanad first point from Maireád Coll in the 5th minute. Fanad had most of the play but found it hard to get into good scoring positions. Milford were very quick on the break but Aisling Howe, Eimear Mc Conigley and Orla Sweeney closing down Milford’s attacks and Rosheen Mc Ginley pulling off two great saves stop Milford from scoring again in the first half. It wasn’t till the 18th minute before Fanad was able to get their 2nd point from Hannah Shiels. Milford did well in keeping Fanad from scoring and forced Fanad into taking shots from distance and causing Fanad to have 8 wides. With the 1st half coming to an end Rachel Sweeney was able to get on the end of a quick Fanad attack and get the first of Fanad goals. The 2nd half started well for Fanad with Aoife Mcdevitt getting a point in the first minute followed by a goal in the 33rd from Lauren Carr, Aoife McDevvitt got her 2nd point just 2 minutes later in the 35 minute. Milford responded with a point but was to be their last. Michelle Doherty got Fanads 3rd goal in the 41st minute follow by points from Hannah Shiels ,Rachel Sweeney, Shona Rogers and Maireád Coll finished off Fanad’s scoring with a point in the 57th minute. Rachel Sweeney 1-0,1 Lauren Carr 1-00, Michelle Doherty 1-00, Maireád Coll 0-02, Hannah Shiels 0-02, Aoife Mcdevitt 0-02, Shona Rogers 0-01. Great result Ladies. Maith sibh.

Final round of games this wed the 29th in trialough @6.30pm, could all the teams be at the pitch @6.20pm, this promises to be a great evening of football with all 3 leagues very close and competitive, the winning team of each league will automatically qualify for the finals which are being played on Friday evening the 31st in conjuction with the opening of the fanad festival, and the 2nd and 3rd team in each league will have to play a semi final on the Friday before the final, so the reward for topping your league is straight through to the final. in the u8 league it has being a tough battle between Dunmore and Ballinacrick both teams sharing the top of the table, with muineagh chasing them down with every game thats played, in the u10 league the ross are setting the pace at the top with glassagh in 2nd place and doaghbeg in 3rd, and with a lot of football to be played over the next 2 evenings its going to be hard to call which team will be lifting the credit union cup come friday evening. in the u12 league this is also a very close call with rinboy leading the way and playing some very good football, and with both carland and glenvar hunting them down in joint 2nd and both teams showing great skill and determination, overall to date it has been very sporting and enjoyable with a large number of parents brothers and sisters and grandparents coming out to watch all the games, so far the weather has been kind to us, so hope it stays like that for our last 2 evenings of a really enjoyable parish league kindly sponsored by Swilly Mulroy Credit Union.
