Milford GAA club notes 19/05/2015

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Tue 19th May

*Donegal v Tyrone*
Well done to the Donegal Senior and Minor teams on their victories over Tyrone on Sunday in the Ulster Championship. Kane Barrett scored 3 points from full forward for the Minors in their 1-11 to 0-8 win to set up a first round clash with Armagh in 2 weeks. Both teams looked in great physical shape and their hard work under the strength and conditioning guidance of Paul Fisher of Paul Fisher Strength & Performance showed. Well done also to Alec McConigley and Dennis Shiels who played during half time in the Senior match.

*Intermediate Championship*
CLG BnaG v Bundoran
Moyle Park, Saturday at 6pm & 7.30pm
The Senior and Reserves kick off their Championship campaigns this weekend with two home games against Bundoran. Both teams are currently top of their respective leagues but will have a tough task against a Bundoran Senior side currently sitting 2nd in Division 2 with 5 wins from 7, while their reserves are 10th of 14 teams in the Division 2 Reserve league having won once in 6 games. Championship matches are always big game so hopefully we get great numbers out in support and really make home advantage count. Paddy McGonagle is refereeing the senior match at 7.30pm with Aidan McAleer in charge of the Reserve game at 6pm.

*U12s*
Our U12A team followed on from last week with another good performance against Cloughaneely. The team’s were level with only a few minutes to go, but a strong performance in the last few minutes made sure of the victory. Paul Ryan was very impressive in defence and Liam Donnelly scored for fun up front. Special mention to Callum Orsi who scored 2 points from half back. The U12B boys and girls continued their winning form with another victory over Cloughaneely in Falcarragh. There were some excellent displays of football from the team, with Mikey McBride and Shaun Coffey in excellent shooting form. Leah Afxentiou showed some very impressive defensive play, clearing the ball effectively on a number of occasions. Once again, Dylan Mc Garry, in goals, used the ball well, picking out BnaG players each time with his kick-outs. Overall it was a very good team performance. We wish to thank the Cloughaneely teams and management for two great sporting games. Next up is a home game against downings.
