Malin GAA Club Notes 02/03/2015

Malin have been drawn in the same group as Glenswilly, Gaoth Dobhair and Sean MacCumhaills in the Radio Na Gaeltachta Senior Championship.


Malin won their first game in the Ulster senior league last weekend against Eglish on a scoreline of Malin 2-11 Eglish 1-10. The Malin team and scorers were: Declan Lafferty, Connor McColgan, Kieran McColgan, Michael McLaughlin, James Gallagher, Damien Harkin (0-01), Gary Collins, Anthony Kelly (0-01), Niall McLaughlin, Danny McCarron, Dan McDaid (1-04), Paul McLaughlin (0-01), Brendan McLaughlin (1-03), Conor Byrne (0-01), Gary Farren. Subs used Aidan Bambrick for James Gallagher and Stephen Doherty for Conor Byrne. The seniors are away to Bryansford in County Down next weekend.


Malin minors won their local derby against Carndonagh on Saturday in an entertaining and hard fought game. Best for Malin on the day were Peter Doherty and Ryan Doherty who were solid in the fullback line, Connor McColgan had a great game at centre back and the young midfield pairing of Ciaran Doherty and Cormac Cullinan more than held their own and with four out of the six forwards scoring the Malin forward unit looked good.

Subs Used: Lee McDaid for Dan McGonagle (10 mins), Daniel Houghton (1-00) for Conor Kelly (25 mins), Jordan McLaughlin for Aran McLaughlin (45 mins). Next up for Patrick Collins’ side is an away game against Moville on Friday the 6th at 7.00pm.


The senior ladies started their league campaign last weekend and were defeated away to Urris. The ladies play at home next Sunday at 11.00 against Urris again, all support welcome


Club membership will be collected in the club house on a Sunday morning from 11am – 1pm from now until end of March. No membership will be accepted after the 31st of March. No one other than fully paid up club members for 2015 will be considered for all Ireland tickets. The cost of club membership is €20 per non-playing adult and €2 for non-playing child.


Malin senior players are running a poker tournament fundraiser upstairs in the clubhouse on Friday 13th of March. The tournament format is a €50 freeze out and €10 registration fee with 15,000 starting stack blinds, 25/50 increasing every twenty minutes. Malin GAA will host a Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser in aid of our underage teams on Easter Sunday Night the 5th of April at 8.00pm in the Plaza, Buncrana. This is guaranteed to be a great nights craic with some club stalwarts, members and local stars taking to the dancefloor.This is one night you will not want to miss. Tickets will be available soon with high demand expected so save the date and keep up to date with the progress of our dancers and ticket information on Facebook.


Malin ladies are running a Big Breakfast on St. Patrick’s day from 9.30 – 2.00 upstairs in the club house. This is a major fundraiser for our Ladies teams so come along and support the girls and enjoy a good breakfast to set you up for the day.

Senior and Reserve team training every Tuesday and Friday from 7.30 – 9.00


U6,U8 and U10 girls team training every Saturday from 11.00 – 12.30 U14 and U16 girls training every Wednesday from 5.15-6.15

Senior Ladies training every Tuesday and Thursaday from 7.30-8.30 indoor


There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot of €850. Sequence drawn was2-6-5-7-3-4-1 . €50 winner was Conor Byrne, Beaugh . The €20 seller prize went to Christopher McLaughlin, Aughaclay. Next week’s jackpot is €900.
