Come along for a great social night’s craic: we will have Traditional Music, Irish Dancing, and Curry for everyone in the audience. Our Minor & Senior teams are putting in the hard work on the field this is our chance to make a contribution to the squads & drive them on in their quest for All Ireland Glory. The curry night was a huge success last year and with your support we can make this year even better.

UNDERAGE FOOTBALL

Underage gaelic is on a break now for the summer and will return in September. The club would like to thank all the members for their support throughout the season and a massive thank you to the mammy’s for their delicious baking on Saturday mornings.

The U10 children did very well and were unlucky to go out in the semi final stages of the GoGames. A huge thanks must go to Billy Kelly, Shaun McClanaghan and Gemma Faulkner who managed the teams. The U8s enjoyed a full morning of gaelic football in Malin on Saturday morning in the GoGames finals. The boys were narrowly beaten while the girls reached the final, a fantastic achievement. Huge thanks goes to Maurice Harkin, Pearse Parkinson and Mags Mulhall for managing these teams.

CUL CAMP

Congratulations to all the 87 children who took part in our Cul Camp this year; it was a huge success. Credit must go to Head Coach John Gibbons for doing an excellent job with the co-ordination, and to all the other coaches who helped out during the week. The club would like to extend a special thank you to all the young players who gave up their time during the week to help out: Padhraic Skelly, Patrick Faulkner, Pauric Carey Doherty, Pearse Doherty, Casey Brown, Eoghan Gillen, Ciara Harkin, Emma Doherty, Niamh Mc Dermott and Allaire Mc Gonagle. We hope every player had a great week. Underage training will take a break now for the summer and will resume in September, we hope to see you all then!

GOOD LUCK

Best wishes to Tony Mc Clenaghan and Ciaran Diver who will line out for Donegal in the All Ireland Minor quarter final against Roscommon in Markievicz Park, Sligo on Saturday at 3pm. It is a fantastic achievement for these two boys from our club to be involved with the Donegal minor squad and to have won an Ulster championship. The club is appealing to all members of the community and the club to show your support by getting your Donegal flags out on display for the Minor boys and the Senior Donegal men for the upcoming game in Croke Park.

SENIOR MEN – Junior A Championship

Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin 0-10 Moville Gaels 2-09

It was a double header for Moville fans in Muff this evening, the reserve team having been beaten by Lifford GAA in the 6pm throw in. The boys battled well in this Junior B championship game but unfortunately came out second best to a strong Lifford team.

The Senior Moville men had a throw in at 7.30pm, with Sean O’Hare taking over managerial duties for this important game; the Moville men having won both of their previous games against Letterkenny Gaels and Lifford. The heat of the previous day was s distant memory as the players and a good number of fans travelled to Muff for this encounter in near perfect playing conditions.

Muff got off the mark first scoring points in the 2nd and 6th minute of the game. Malachy McDermott turned his marker in the 8th minute and raised the green flag to put Moville a point ahead with a brilliant goal. Danny Murphy raised the green flag again within two minutes leaving the Muff keeper gathering the ball out of his net again after some great build up play. Muff #26 scored an excellent 45 in the 16th minute and this was followed by a point from their #12 two minutes later; this would be their fourth and last scores of the first half. John McGeady scored 2 points from frees in the 19th and 24th minutes of the game; closely followed by Maurice Harkin who took his point well in the 25th minute bisecting the uprights. Danny Murphy rounded off the scoring in the first half with a point in the 28th minute.

Moville came out in the second half and scored two quick but well taken points, James Henry sprinted up from defence to score in the 31st minute and Nigel McMonagle scored a well deserved point 2 minutes later. Muff regrouped and scored four points without reply. #8 scored in the 4th minute of the second half, #12 scored in the 13th minute, #26 scored a free from close range in the 14th minute and #26 added to his tally a minute later. Seamus Hegarty made his way up from defence to score a brilliant point in the 16th minute. #28 for Muff scored another close range free in the 17th minute and Muff scored again in the 19th minute. What followed was a great disciplined display from the Moville team, they held the ball well and passed it around the midfield and defence, always retaining possession and protecting their lead. John McGeady got his third point of the game with a free in the 25th minute and Moville played with most of the possession, and contained Muff until the final whistle in what was a mature and disciplined second half. Moville will be hoping to carry this momentum through into their next Championship group game against Convoy with the date of that fixture to be confirmed as yet.
