CLG AN TEARMAINN : CLUB NOTES FOR WEEK ENDING 20 SEPTEMBER 2015

LADIES:

Congratulations to our Senior Ladies who won their fourth consecutive county championship title on Sunday. With a goal in scored in the first 6 seconds our girls stayed comfortably ahead and dominated the entire game. Their determination, experience and skill showed from the throw in and right up until the final whistle. This display showed why they are All Ireland Champions. Congratulations to the girls and management on such an outstanding performance and best of luck in your Ulster campaign. We are delighted that the first round of the Ulster competition will be at the Burn Road on Sunday 4th October, so put the date in your diaries!

The Juniors have no training on Wednesday as there’s a game at the pitch. Harry will be in contact regarding training.

U13 notes: both teams were out on Saturday morning last. The B team played at home to Gaoth Dobhair. Despite putting in a brave effort the older Gweedore girls were just that bit to much bigger and stronger than our younger squad and they left with the win. Among those who played well were Orla Gallagher, Chelsea Gorman and Michaela Gallagher. The A team were away to Glenswilly where they dominated the game to earn another win. Among those who played well were Aoife Kelly, Ciara Mc Elwaine and Sarah Kho. Details re upcoming games tbc.

Anyone wishing to put in an order for the new Termon t-shirt please text your name and size to Lisa on 0851650782, order to be in by Friday 17th. Cost is €17 and must be paid up front.

MEN

The great contingent of Termon supporters who travelled to Mac Cumhaill Park on Saturday evening left with heads held high, proud of the fine performance our entire team of Senior footballers put in over the 60 minutes. They battled to the end, and only 3 points separated us from one of the favourites to lift the Dr Maguire Cup next month. It was great to see Caolán McDaid back on the field, and we are now awaiting notification of our next league fixture.

SCÓR

The GAA was established in 1884 to promote Irish games, language and culture. Every year Scór celebrates the cultural side of the GAA, with individual singing, ballad group, recitation, novelty act, instrumental music and a quiz section. Many of you will remember our very successful novelty acts “The Time Warp” and “X Factor An Tearmainn” and the great fun we had preparing those productions! Scór na nÓg Semi-Final for our part of the county will be on Saturday 7th November at 7pm in Gort a’Choirce and we would like to see the Club represented in some of the above categories. So, if you are under 17, can sing, play an instrument or recite a poem or story, would you consider representing your club on November 7th? Give it some thought, and there will be more info next week!

MINOR BOARD NOTES SEPT 20TH IN ASSOCIATION WITH KELLY’S CENTRA MOUNTAIN TOP LETTERKENNY

Coaches of all teams using the Burn Road are reminded that the portable goals are only to be used if they are held in with the spikes which are provided. No coaching or games should take place using these goals without the spikes. Thanks to Jim Mc Sharry who recently modified and repaired the 3 sets of portable goal posts to make them safer. Thank you Jim.

Our U6s conclude their mini league and games this Saturday so we hope to see all our youngest members turn up for what will be a fun filled hour and maybe even a few treats for the children. Aidan, Conal and Paul have put in a huge effort all year so plase make every effort to have the children at the Burn Road at 10.30 on Saturday morning.

A huge thanks to everyone in Naomh Muire who made our U8s U10 their special guests last Saturday morning. Despite the atrocious weather conditions the boys and girls played a series of games before being treated to superb array of treats and refreshments. Our Coaches, parents and all our players would like to express our sincere appreciation for the hospitality, it really was on a different level and shows how stong the Naomh Mhuire GAA Club is with so many providing food and helping out. Hopefully next season we will get to return the favour. Coaching for U8s continues this Saturday 10.30-11.30 at The Burn Road. The following Saturday will be the final outing for this age group and Jim and Liam hope to finish with a game on Saturday week Sept 26th, more details next week.

Our U10s will take part in the Gerald O Doherty Memorial Blitz in Strabane Sigersons this Saturday. David will send out details later in the week. The season will conclude for these boys and girls with coaching on Saturday 26th and with a Blitz in Termon on Oct 3rd finishing the season for David and his assistants. Best of luck to all in Strabane on Saturday

Our U12 boys will travel to the Glen Club in Maghera in Derry on Saturday Oct 3rd to bring the curtain down on their season. We will have coaching on Friday evening with details to be sent later in the week. The boys can sell 5 lotto tickets to cover the cost of the day out on Oct 3rd and these will be distributed on Friday. Any queries contact Eddie 086 6082512

Well done to our U13 A team on their victory over St Michaels in their second league game. Jack Alcorn, Conor Black, Jamir Grant and Mark Gallagher were prominent in what was a comfortable victory. The boys travel to O Donnell Park this Wednesday to play the host team in game 3 and will then host Muff on Sunday 11.45 throw in. Our U13 Development team hosted Glenswilly on Sunday and despite rhe visitors recording the victory it was another excellent run our for these boys.

Well done to the U16 boys who recorded a superb victory in Tri-a-Lough over the home team on Friday evening last. The prize is a home NRB Semi final against St Michaels, tomorrow evening Wednesday, 6.15 throw in. Good luck PJ, Paul and boys.
