St. Michaels Minor Board

St. Michael’s Parish League

St Michael’s Parish League continued in cool conditions at the Bridge on Sunday last.

Almost 100 children were again in attendance ranging from the tiniest of 3 year old tiny tots to hardiest of 14 year old’s.

Bernard McGinley managed the 4 to 8 year old’s in the Clubhouse Hall ably assisted by his coaches to spare them the wintry conditions while some of the parents and grandparents relaxed.

Outside the 9 to 14 year old’s were divided up into 4 groups, the Junior Girls and Boys and the Senior Girls and Boys. Each group was then taken by a pair of coaches and taken through training session focused on the fundamentals of the game. Then 8 teams were picked and, despite the poor weather 4 games were played where all the players could test out the skills they had learned. Afterwards they all retreated to the tea rooms.

The Parish League continues on Sunday the 22nd at 2 o’clock sharp at the Bridge and will be over by 3.30. New players are always welcome and registration will still be possible .

Gate duty Karin Brennan and Mary Teresa Rutland. Teas Vanessa Sharkey, Ann McGinley and Alison King. The Rota will be up on Facebook next week.

For further information or if you wish to volunteer in some capacity please contact Manus Friel on 087 6470532 or Annmarie Kelly on 087 9454107.
