St Eunan’s                               1-11

Sean MacCumhaill’s        1-8

Played in slippery conditions directly after a heavy shower old rivals St Eunan’s and Sean Mac Cumhaills clashed in the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure senior championship hurling semi-final. Mac Cumhaills opened brightly with three points from Gavin Browne and Massy. The St Eunan’s radar was off with a series of wides, before Conor O’Grady opened his account with a free followed by a long-range point from play. However,  St Eunan’s still looked flat in attack and had to rely on good defensive work to keep Mac Cumhaills at bay. Despite this, Mac Cumhaills broke through with the decisive score of the first half a Paddy Hannigan goal on 24 minutes. St Eunans continued to misfire but an O’Grady pointed free followed by a well-worked point from Ryan Hilferty brought the score down to the minimum. The first half ended with a fine penalty save by the Mc Cumhaill’s keeper Del Lafferty. Half time score Sean Mc Cumhaills 1.3 to St Eunans 0.5.

The second half opened with a quick equaliser from Sean Mc Veigh but Massy replied with a pointed free for Mac Cumhaills. Both teams exchanged points before Mc Veigh pointed to put St Eunans into the lead for the first time on 41 minutes. MacCumhails quickly equalised but Kevin Kealy broke through to score a goal for St Eunans on 48 minutes. St Eunans stretched their lead with three more points over the next few minutes. MacCumhaills fought back to reduce the lead to three points in injury time but the final whistle blew with the final score St Eunans 1.11 to Sean Mac Cumhaills 1.8
