Gaoth Dobhair 1-3 St Eunan’s 0-6
Ardara took an early lead in this tie with goals in quick succession that left them 2-3 to 0-1 ahead but a remarkable turnaround saw St Michaels lead 2-3 to 3-10 at the break and the game was all but over at that stage. There was as much scored in the first ten minutes in Pearse Park as in the entire game in Machaire Gathlán where a cagey affair between the hosts and St Eunans ended all square. Eunans led 0-5 to 0-2 at the break having benefitted from the breeze and extended their lead earlier in the second half. Gaoth Dobhair only pierced the Eunan’s defence twice thereafter but crucially a goal ten minutes from the end by Odhran MacNiallas kept Gaoth Dobhair’s title defence on track.
Next Saturday Gaoth Dobhair travel to play St Michael’s at The Bridge with both sides needing a win to keep their championship hopes on track before St Eunan’s entertain Ardara in O’Donnell Park.
