*Marti Barrett – Ulster LGFA Volunteer of the Year 2014*
The Club is delighted to have received word today that Marti Barrett has been awarded the Ulster LGFA Volunteer of the Year award. I’m sure everyone within the Club is aware of the huge huge amount of work Marti has done in establishing na Galloglaigh ladies as a force too be reckoned with in the county already, despite only coming back into existence in 2007 with U14 and U16 teams.Since then the Club, with a huge amoun…t of effort and time from Marti, Ger Hardiman, Louis Gallagher and others, has gone from strength to strength and we now have Ladies teams ranging from U12 right up to Senior and recently a Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others team. Marti has also somehow found time to be involved in Donegal Ladies U16, Minor and Senior teams over the years and has seen many of the talents he coached at Club level progress to represent the County, and so far, 17 players from the Club have gone on to play for Donegal from U14 to Senior level. He is a great GAA man and Club man to the core and this recognition from the Ulster LGFA is very well deserved and the Club is very proud. Marti will be presented with his award at this Fridays Ulster LGFA awards night in Kellys Inn, Ballygawley.

Some of Marti’s achievements include:

U14 team reached Féile and County Final in 2007.

Always a great night! Not to be missed.

*Intermediate Championship Relegation Final*
CLG BnaG 1-8 Downings 0-6
Our Seniors secured Intermediate Championship football next year after a great 5 point win over neighbours Downings in MacCumhaill Park on Saturday. It was by no means a great game to watch but Na Galloglaigh were superb in the first 10 minutes. After 2 minutes Pauric Curley scored a great goal and points from David Curley and Luke Barrett put na Galloglaigh 6 points ahead after ten minutes. Downings scored their first point in the 17th minute and this was responded to with a Conor McNulty point straight after, which was to be the last score for the blues in the first half. The second half was a very poor game of football and was really just a battle. Na Galloglaigh defended well but it was Downings who got the first score of the half. The space afforded to Cathal Mc Gettigan and David Curley in the first half wasn’t there in the second as Downings brought a man back and the lads struggled to get their scores. You know when Jonny Logue scores things are going your way! He got a key score at a vital time with ten minutes to go to keep Downings at arms length. In a typically ‘physical’ local derby there were relatively few yellow cards however Finnian McClafferty got a straight red for a challenge as the game entered the final few minutes. After the final whistle Na Galloglaigh celebrations were rudely interrupted by a bit of argy bargy involving both sets of team, managers and some supporters. However we won’t let the ugly scenes at the end take away from how the lads were in complete control of this game from start to finish and thoroughly deserved their victory. This brings an end to the Senior campaign for 2014 and players and management will be satisfied to have retained their status in Division 3 having come up last year and also to be playing in the Intermediate Championship next year. The Club would like to thank manager Shaun Paul Barrett, his mentors Conall McFadden, Aodh McCormack, Nigel Black, Pat Barrett and Michael Mc Glynn as well as all the players for their hard work and dedication all year. Onwards and upwards in 2015. Team: Sean Gallagher, Gavin Grier, Sean Black, Gary Merritt, Enda McHugh, Paddy Peoples, Conor McNulty (0-1), Luke Barrett (0-3), Jonny Logue (0-1), Pauric Curley (1-0), Christopher Barrett (0-1), Tony Mcnamee, Tj Evesson, Cathal McGettigan, David Curley (0-2). Manus Boyce for McHugh (45m), Joey Cullen for McGettigan (50), Darragh Black for C. Barrett (56m)

Ireland v Australia throws in at 5.45pm Perth time which will be 9.45am Irish time. *Lucozade Sport Kit Out Project*
Lucozade Sport are back with another promotion this year which was very beneficial to us last year.
