Malin GAA Club Notes 28/04/2015

ALL COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION 1

An understrength Malin were defeated by Ardara at the weekend on a scoreline Malin 2-06 Ardara 3-12. With Malin missing upto 9 players due to soccer commitments and losing Declan Walsh to injury early on they were always up against it against experienced division one side Ardara. Malin team and scorers: Daniel Mullarkey, Ryan Doherty, James Gallagher, Michael McLaughlin, Kieron McColgan, Damien Harkin, Gary Collins, Anthony Kelly, Niall McLaughlin, John C Doherty, Paul McLaughlin (1-00), Declan Walsh, Conor Farren, Brendan McLaughlin (1-05) and Dan McDaid (0-01). Subs used Danny McCarron for Declan Walsh (10 mins), Stephen Doherty for Conor Farren (40 mins), Conor Farren for Niall McLaughlin (55 mins –black card).

Malin reserves were also beaten today despite the return of experienced players like John McLaughlin Jimmy Mickey, John McLaughlin Rustard and Aidan Gallagher with the final Score Malin reserves 0-09 Ardara 6-12.

The team on the day was Declan Lafferty, Conor Byrne, Aidan Gallagher, Thomas McLaughlin, Jonathan McCarron, John McLaughlin (jm), Andrew Mullin, Noel McLaughlin, Matthew Crampsey, Paul Monagle, Christopher Doherty, Terence McLaughlin, Danny McCarron, Darragh McLaughlin and Stephen McLaughlin. Subs used John McLaughlin (r), Aran McLaughlin, Lee McDaid and Peter Doherty.

Malin seniors and reserves will be playing at home in Connolly Park next Saturday 2/5/15 against St. Eunan’s at 6.00 pm and 7.30pm. All support welcome.

LADIES

The ladies play against Robert Emmets at home next Sunday 3/5/15 at 11.00

MINORS

The minor team suffered a one point defeat in the Inishowen final against Moville in Foden on Friday night with the scoreline Moville 2-08 Malin 0-13. The teams were level at half time at 0-06 to 0-06 but two goals early in the second half put Moville ahead and despite getting back to a point and dominating possesion for the rest of the half the team just couldn’t get the scores on the board. Credit must go to the management team of Patrick Collins, Neil McGilloway, Paul Gallagher and John McLaughlin in preparing the side and reaching the final and hopefully they can keep the team pushed on for the championship. UNDERAGE

The under 8 team were in Urris last Saturday and had a great day with all players getting games and no shortage of skills on show. The under 12’s played and beat Burt last Tuesday and this week sees them at home to Urris on Tuesday 28/4/15 at 6.30. The under 14’s managed by Martin Lafferty, Noel McLaughlin and Louis Walsh won a challenge match on Friday against Moville as they prepare for the start of their

season. The under 16 side played out a draw on Monday evening against Muff in a great game in which the side put in one of their best performances all year.

U6 team training every Sunday from 10.00 – 11.15
U8 team training every Saturday from 3.00 – 4.15

U10 team training every Sunday from 11.30 – 1.00

U12 team training every Saturday from 4.30 – 6.00 and Tuesday from 5.45 – 7.00

U14 team training every Saturday from 9.30 – 11.00 and Tuesday from 5.30 – 7.00

U16 team training every Monday from 4.30 – 6.30 and Friday 4.30 – 6.30

Senior and Reserve team training every Tuesday and Friday from 7.30 – 9.00

UNDERAGE/SENIOR GIRLS TRAINING

U6,U8 and U10 girls team training every Saturday from 11.00 – 12.30 U14 and U16 girls training every Wednesday from 5.15-6.15

Senior Ladies training every Tuesday and Thursaday from 7.30-8.30 indoor

CLUB MEETING

There will be a club meeting this Thursday night 30/4/15 in the clubhouse at 9.00pm sharp, all committee members are asked to attend.

LOTTO

There was no winner of this week’s lotto jackpot of €1250. Sequence drawn was 4-1-6-5-3-7-2. €50 winner was Maggie McLaughlin, Ballylannon. The €20 seller prize went to Bronach McCarron, Drumcarbit . Next week’s jackpot is €1300.

FINALLY

The club would like to congratulate John and Mags McLaughlin on the birth of their son Sean. Also congratulations to Christopher McLaughlin (Barney) and Lorna Doherty on their engagement.
