ALL COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION 1

Malin 1-07 St. Eunan’s 2-21

St. Eunan’s ran out easy winners on Saturday night in poor conditions for football as Malin’s early season struggles continued. Malin opened the scoring when Dan McDaid scored a goal in the opening minute but it was all St. Eunan’s for the remainder of the half as they scored four points in a row before almost getting two goals with one being saved by Declan Lafferty and one being blocked on the line by Charles Byrne. Eunan’s added two more points and they did then get their goal through Lee McMonagle. Malin responded by having a goal chance saved by the St. Eunan’s keeper and then Seamus Doherty got a point for the home side after salviging a wayward 45’. St Eunan’s pressed on getting the next three scores leaving the half time score reading Malin 1-01 St. Eunan’s 1-09.

Malin opened the scoring in the second half through Dan McDaid but Eunan’s scored a goal from Sean McVeigh and five unanswered points put the game to bed early in the second half. Malin scored through two Matthew Byrne efforts but again St. Eunan’s , who looked sharp, came back at them with a variety of points from frees, from distance and two fisted efforts as they came from deep and overran Malin at times. Two late Anthony Kelly points were little consolation for Malin as they fell to another defeat. Malin play away to Dungloe next Sunday at 3.00.

Peter Doherty got Malin off to a good start pointing from a free after Gary Collins had been fouled. Conor Byrne added another shortly after. St Eunan’s then scored a goaf from Donncha Gallagher and added three more points before Malin rallied and scored through Darren McLarkey, who almost scored a goal shortly after with the Eunan’s keeper producing a great save. Good play between John McLaughlin and Conor Byrne saw them advance forwards and Byrne was fouled with Christopher McLaughlin pointing the resulting free and scoring another from a tight angle. St Eunan scored the last point of the half to leave the score Malin 0-05 St. Eunan’s 1-04.

St. Eunan’s scored the first two scores of the half but from then on it was all Malin, Christopher McLaughlin won the ball off the St Eunan’s defence and fed Christopher Dohery who scored off the post to get them underway, Doherty added another shortly after when Jason Doherty managed to fist into his path after Conor Farren’s ball in. Jason Doherty helped himself to two points before Malin got the key score of the game with a goal from Christopher McLaughlin who saw his high ball in go past the keeper who couldn’t keep it out despite getting a hand to it. Malin tagged on another point from McLaughlin and then Conor Farren came up with a great score as Malin stretched into a point lead. Their cause was helped when St. Eunan’s were reduced to 14 after their corner forward was sent off for two bookings and Malin had time for

two more scores from McLarkey and Jason Doherty to gain their first victory of the season. St Eunan’s had a black card late on and Malin at last got something that their performances deserved with the final score Malin 1-13 St Eunan’s 1-08, next up is Dungloe away next Sunday.
