22 young Under 12 players travelled to Clones last week to watch Donegal v Derry. They played Lisnaskea Emments at 3pm before heading on to Clones. Thanks to Barry and all at Lisnaskea Emments for their hospitality and thanks to Eamon Curran of Curran’s Londis for all the refreshments he supplied for the trip.
Well done to our Under 12 boys team who played out a thrilling shield final on Friday evening in Fintra against An Clochan Liath. Our lads got off to a good start and by half time were winning well on a scoreline of 5-5 to 1-2. Fair play to An Clochan Liath who never gave up and they played very well in the second half closing to within two points with time almost up. Then they hit the net to lead by one point as the referee moved into added time for a few stoppages in the second half. However some instinctive play from our goalkeeper saw him play a quick ball down the field and our full-forward got pulled down as he went to shoot. From the resulting free the game was level and the referee blew for full time.
The boys showed great resilience and took control of the game again in extra time playing some very entertaining football and scoring some wonderful team scores. In the end they ran out comfortable winners on an incredible scoreline of 8-15 to 7-11. Great credit must go to both teams for putting on such a wonderful display of football and to the referee who kept the game flowing throughout.
