Donegal Training Fundraiser – Seán Ferriter Golf Classic in 2 weeks in Dunfanaghy

It is only two week’s until the Golf Classic at Dunfanaghy Golf Club on Friday July 19th to raise funds for the Donegal Senior team’s training fund. Winning in the Anglo Celt cup for the fifth time in a decade in Clones was a great lift for the County. The next step is to qualify for the All-Ireland semi-finals on the weekend of Aug10/11 by emerging from Super 8s Group 1. The first game is next Sunday in MacCumhaill Park against Meath or Clare and then Croke Park on Sunday July 21st against Kerry. There will be plenty of Donegal eyes on the Meath-Clare game on Sunday – it is being broadcast live by RTE and on the all-Connacht clash on Saturday evening between Mayo and Galway in Limerick to see who Donegal face in their final Group game on Aug 3/4. Donegal will need to win at least two of these games and possibly all three to ensure qualification.

Financing the onward progress of the team is vital and a successful Classic will help fund the huge commitment put in by the squad and management. The driving force behind the Classic is Dunfanaghy Golf Club President, Seán Ferriter, a former Donegal footballer and captain. Special guests on the day will be former Kerry legend and current Sunday Game a Panelist, Tómas Ó’Sé, along with a host of former legendary Donegal footballers. Also joining on the day will be the main sponsor of the event, Cathal Jackson of Copper Face Jacks. After the four ball competition there will be an evening of entertainment in the clubhouse, including a BBQ. Inquiries should be made to Joanne Ferriter at 086-4079060 or Eddie Boyle 085-6181862. Anyone listening to Highland Radio on Wednesday last will have heard Joanne speak both eloquently and enthusiastically to Oisin Kelly about the event.
