Donegal Masters are through to the All-Ireland Final

Congratulations to Val Murray and the Donegal Masters whose single point victory over Roscommon yesterday secured them the chance of ultimate glory in an All-Ireland final against Dublin, who defeated Tyrone 1-19 to 0-17 in the other semi-final. The game against Roscommon was a ding-dong battle with the lead changing hands a number of times over the course of the game.

Roscommon, with the wind in their favour, dominated the first quarter leading by four points to no score fifteen minutes in. Donegal, however, soon found their mojo with six points in succession before a Peter Devlin goal put them 1-6 to 0-4 up. Roscommon immediately hit back with a goal and a point to leave Donegal leading by a point 1-6 to 1-5 at the break and with the elements in their favour for the second half. The Rossies started the second half the better team however, edging ahead three times but Donegal recovered to lead by two as the game drew to a close. A late Roscommon point made for an edgy finish in added time but Donegal ran out 1-11 to 1-10 winners.
