CLG Dhún na nGall re-launch its Partnership with the Samaritans

Donegal GAA’s Health & Wellbeing Committee, at tonight’s County Committee re-launched its partnership with the Samaritans. Roisin Doherty on behalf of the Samaritans addressed County Committee, the Samaritans are available to attend clubs promoting health, Mental Health issues. Roisin reminded the delegates that the Samaritans are for helping people who are finding things tough, people contact them to help themselves find a way forward. The Samaritans are not about providing advise, they LISTEN. Roisin highlighted that there’s no “typical” Samaritans caller. Roisin asked delegates to remind people that the Samaritans will listen, and don’t judge. Roisin advised the members the new free telephone number for the Samaritans is  116123 this number can be contacted 24/7 . The ultimate aim of this partnership is to reduce the stigma around the issue of mental health and to encourage people to talk. Clubs can get involved -attend awareness talks.
