Ulster GAA’s Young Leaders Programme is back for Summer 2021 with applications now open for young Gaels aged 16-24 years old from across all nine Ulster Counties. The 2021  Programme is jam packed with activities for young GAA members to develop their skills, knowledge and experience of the GAA. It is funded by the Education Authority and is completely FREE for the young participants. Places are limited and demand is expected to be exceptional high, so we are advising people to get their applications in by 5pm Thursday 24th June 2021.

The Young Leaders Programme will run throughout the summer from 1st July until 26th August.  It will include online workshops, a three-day academy at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh, a two-day expedition with camping (subject to Covid 19 restrictions) and a celebratory event with family. Participants are expected to participate in all elements of this Programme in order to achieve the 2021 Ulster GAA Young Leaders Award. Through the programme, the young people will also achieve a Foundation GAA Coaching Award, GAA Safeguarding Award, Gaisce/Duke of Edinburgh Award and Volunteer Now Youth Impact Award.

This unique summer programme is an exceptional opportunity for young people to develop their skills, knowledge and experience of the GAA. The Young Leaders will experience playing Gaelic Games, volunteering in their club and will have the opportunity to join Ulster GAA’s Vaccination Volunteer Team. Emphasis will be on healthy lifestyles and the young participants will be encouraged to choose healthy options throughout the programme. They will also develop their creative skills by working in groups to produce short promotional videos for social media to highlight the impact of the programme. This is an exciting opportunity for any young person hoping to put their summer to good use. The experience and awards gained through this programme will help the Young Leaders stand out in university and job applications.
