The Secrets of Ageing Well in Donegal “– a Seminar

In an era where we are all expected to live longer, the GAA and Trinity College Dublin have come together to highlight the secrets to successful ageing in a series of free regional seminars.

Did you know?

  • People living by the sea are less likely to be depressed?
  • People in rural communities report stronger levels of social cohesion than those in Dublin?
  • Optimists live longer?
  • Friendship and good social life are as important as low cholesterol for heart disease?
  • Quality of life continues to get better after 50 for almost another 30 years?

These nuggets of knowledge, and much more, will be explored by Professor Rose Anne Kenny, an international expert in healthy ageing, as part of this series of public talks entitled ‘How to Age Well: Evidence from TILDA’.

TILDA is the Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing, the over-arching aim of which is to make Ireland the best place to grow old in the world.

Hosted by the Donegal GAA Health and Wellbeing Committee, this engaging seminar is open to all members of the public, young and old alike.

What: Public Talk Series

Where: Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)

When: Friday 22nd March from 2-4pm
