Ádh mór to all four teams in tomorrow’s hurling finals

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Fri 30th Aug

It is hurling finals day tomorrow in O’Donnell Park with Aodh Ruadh taking on Carn in the junior final and looking to prevent them doing the double, the Inishowen side having already won the Junior League.

Like Carn, Setanta will also be seeking to complete a league and championship double. All year the Killygordon side have looked like a squad on a mission to erase the hurt from last year’s final defeat at the hands of Burt. In the programme notes both captain Martin Bonner and manager Paul Campbell reference the motivation to succeed in 2019 as a direct result of the pain of 2018.

It will take more than passion to beat Naomh Ádhamhnáin, a club in their second final in three years but who have not won the senior hurling championship since 1972. The Letterkenny men have been also impressive in 2019. They were runners-up in the league and were level on points with Setanta at the top of the Senior championship group. When the teams played in the group stages they couldn’t be separated playing out a 1-13 to 0-16 draw.

The best of luck to all four teams and to the two match referees, Trevor Maloney, Hugo Wallace and their officials. We look forward to two exciting and close finals. that will provide a fitting conclusion to the 2019 club hurling season in Donegal.
