Táin Óg u-13 competition underway with u-15s starting next week

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Wed 9th Jun

Donegal clubs Aodh Ruadh, Beart, Buncranncha and St Eunans have al entered teams in the Táin Óg hurling competitions. The U-13 competition commenced on June 7th with Burt travelling to Derry City to play Na Magha in Group 1. The Donegal boys were on the wrong side of a 6-4 to 2-5 result but this was their first outing in 2021 while the earlier lifting of lockdown conditions in the six counties had given the young Derry lads a  few outings in advance. Naomh Ádhamhnáin had a bye for the first round.

Táin Óg is an area based competitions allowing clubs to cross county boundaries to play neighbouring clubs they might otherwise not meet for competitive games. Thus Aodh Ruadh, in Group 2, will mostly meet County Sligo teams. Their first game against Easkey was scheduled for Monday 7th but has been shifted to this coming Friday June 11th. The full schedule of u-13 fixtures are as follows:

The u-15s Tain Óg competition commences next Monday. Group 1 has three Donegal teams – An Beart, Buncranncha and Naomh Ádhamhnáin. Burt will again play Na Magha in Derry, St Eunans are away to Na Seamróga and Buncrana entertain Ballerin at the Scarvey.

Aodh Ruadh  are in Group 5 alongside Easkey, Cluain Iomaint, Ballina Stephenites and Cuil Irra/Leathros/Coolera Strandhill. Their first game is also scheduled for this coming Monday June 14th, against Easkey, but the Ballyshannon club are hoping to reschedule their games to Tuesday evenings. Their fixtures, as they stand at the moment, are shown below:

Last to start is the u-17 competition which does not commence until end July. The same four Donegal teams are again involved, as per the fixtures below.
