On Wednesday the 16th of August, 190 children took to the hallowed turf in Croke Park for the annual UlsterGAA Activity day The children experienced the full complement of the stadium facilities, changing in the Cusack Stand changing rooms, complete with team warm up rooms, going on a stadium tour before playing on the famous pitch 

6 football clubs and 9 hurling clubs were represented. The football clubs who participated (below) played in a blitz where each club played 4 games.

  • Naomh Colmcille
  • Downings

All the hurling players from the nine clubs below were divided into 4 different teams with everyone playing 3 games.  

  • CLG Charn Domhnaigh,  
  • CLG Buncrana,  
  • CLG Beart, 
  • Naomh Adhamhan 
  • Setanta 
  • Sean Mac Cumhaills 
  • Four Masters 
  • Aodh Ruadh  
  • An Clochan Liath

 

We had access to the field from 2:45pm to 4.15pm. During the football and hurling matches the players showcased some great skill and talent that we will hopefully see in years to come when they go onto represent Donegal in Croke Park 

Donegal GAA Coaching & Games would like to say a big thanks to Ulster Coaching & Games staff and in particular Gary Mallon and Gareth Thorton for all their help on the day Thanks to the County Minor Board and Hurling Board for their help organising the clubs and children in the lead up.  The referee’s on the day John Ward, Emmet Byrne, Odhran Lafferty. Thanks to Donegal Gaa Staff, Declan Bushell, Calum Quinn, Paddy Hegarty, John Ward and Martin Mc Grath who helped co-ordinate the day. Finally, thank you to our all our club mentors for their preparation in advance of the trip and assistance and co-operation, We are looking forward to next year’s trip already!
