St Mary’s Convoy’s Enda McFeely will make his Allianz League debut this weekend when he officiates in the Division 4 opening round meeting of Leitrim and Waterford at Avant Money Páirc Sheáin MhicDiarmada in Carrick on Shannon. One of Donegal’s most experienced referees, he was the man in the middle at the 2022 Ulster u20 final and was elevated to the National Panel of Referees in November.

The GAA is following the lead of Donegal – which featured the “Give Respect Get Respect” Logo in all our club programmes last year as well as a number of supporting articles – by highting the issue of respect in the launch of this year’s Allianz League. Emphasising the message, In an open letter to all Gaels that will appear in most Allianz League match programmes this weekend, GAA President Larry MacCarthy wrote:

Another quality that will ensure that our games retain this pre-eminent position will be Respect. Respect for ourselves, respect for the opposition  and respect for match officials is crucial for the integrity and reputation of our games and our organisation. How we conduct  ourselves says a lot about us.  It is my wish that the respect agenda is driven by us, collectively. Respect should be a cornerstone of the culture of CLG.  But culture is learned behaviour, and demonstrating respect as a culture must be learned, reinforced and constantly  demonstrated, so that it is unequivocally our normal and acceptable behaviour”.
