Five goals in an exciting second half saw Burt and Naomh Muire level at the end of normal time in the Division 3B League final. Burt edged the first half of extra time taking a two point lead by half-time but dominated the second period to run out 4-14 to 4-5 winners, completing the double having previously won the McGlynn’s Restaurant Division 3 title. They will be looking to make it a hat-trick next Saturday when they contest the Grand Canal Hotel Senior Hurling Championship final against Setanta in O’Donnell Park
Despite losing the Reserve final Naomh Muire fans will have travelled back to the Lower Rosses relatively happy having secured promotion to Division 2 for the 2023 season after a very hard fought win over Na Rossa. Playing with the aid of a strong breeze they dominated much of the first half but only led by four points 0-8 to 1-1 at the break. Within ten minutes of the second half Na Rossa had turned the game around leading 2-4 to 0-9 and could have been further ahead but for Declan Ward saving a penalty. However, despite the wind dis-advantage Naomh Muire hit seven more points to Na Rossa’s two to run out 0-16 to 2-6 winners.
