With their win in Buncrana this evening, Downings took second place in Marley.ie Division 2 and secured Division 1 football next season. They will play Malin, who won at home to Milford, in the Roinn 2 League final. Milford, despite the defeat will play third place Sean MacCumhaill in the promotion play-off.
At the bottom of the league, Red Hughs ensured they avoided automatic relegation when Fanad Gaels failed to field, sending Moville to Division 3 alongside already relegated St Nauls. St Mary’s will play Red Hughs after Letterkenny Gaels ensured their survival in the second flight with a narrow win in Dungloe.
