There are twelve teams competing in the 2022 Intermediate football championship divided into two groups as shown below.

The first of the four rounds of fixtures will be on the weekend of August 6th and 7th. The fixtures are as follows:
Week 1 Games – Friday, August 5th, Sat August 6th and Sunday August 7th
Group A: Burt v Dungloe; Naomh Mhuire InR v Malin; Fanad Gaels v Termon
Group B: Downings v Red Hughs; Convoy v Buncrana; Naomh Brid v Naomh Columba
Week 2 Games – Friday, August 12th, Sat August 13th and Sunday August 14th
Group A: Malin v Burt; Termon v Naomh Mhuire InR; Dungloe v Fanad Gaels
Group B: Buncrana v Downings; Naomh Columba v Convoy; Red Hughs v Naomh Brid
Week 3 Games – Friday, August 19th, Sat August 20th and Sunday August 21st
Group A: Burt v Termon; Naomh Mhuire InR v Fanad Gaels; Malin v Dungloe;
Group B: Downings v Naomh Columba; Convoy v Naomh Brid; Buncrana v Red Hughs
Week 4 Games – Friday, August 26th, Sat August 27th and Sunday August 28th
Group A: Fanad Gaels v Burt; Dungloe v Naomh Mhuire InR; Termon v Malin;
Group B: Naomh Brid v Downings; Red Hughs v Convoy; Naomh Columba v Buncrana
Knockout Rounds
The top eight teams will progress to four quarter finals on the weekend September 10th and 11th. The pairings will be 1st v 8th ; 2nd v 7th; 3rd v 6th; 4th v 5th. The games will be played at neutral venues. The winners of each quarter final will be drawn randomly to decide the semi-final pairings the following weekend – September 17th and 18th.
The Intermediate B competition will mirror the A competition. The finals for both are scheduled for October 1st or 2nd.
The bottom four sides will take part in relegation semi-finals – 9th v 12th and 10th v 11th – played at neutral venues with the losers then playing to avoid relegation to Junior Status..
