This evening the Nationwide programme on RTÉ1TV at 7pm will feature a special report on the GAA’s Community Heart Programme. It is also available on the RTÉ Player. It is another opportunity for us to collectively highlight the important work of an initiative that we know has saved 42 lives in recent years by GAA club-based defibrillators being on hand to help people in a cardiac emergency.
It is seldom we have an initiative where the benefits and impact of its success is as dramatic and life changing as this. Whether it is a chance for a club to acquire their first ever unit, source additional units for their expanding facilities or crucially to upgrade and if necessary, replace units that are more than 10 years old – the Community Heart Programme can make a real difference. From Aghaderg-Ballyvarley in Down to Ballylanders in Limerick, Bennetts Bridge in Kilkenny and Bearna/Furbo in Galway there are clubs receiving donations.
