It has taken a while as the Donegal CCC involved the clubs in deciding the format for this year’s league and championship formats in both hurling and football. All the proposals were discussed at virtual County Committee last night. A small number of issues arose which remain to be resolved but the majority of league fixtures will be uploaded to the Donegal GAA site by Sunday evening.
Considerable thanks to the CCC, and particularly to the CCC Secretary Ed Byrne, Na Cealla Beaga, and CCC Chairperson Seamus O’Domhnaill, Cloich Cheann Fhaola, for their work and attention to detail in putting together something which the majority of clubs are happy with. It is impossible for everyone to be pleased with everything but Ed and the CCC came close.
With the leagues commencing in the second week of June, CLG Dhún na nGall are delighted to welcome back our sponsors for another year:
- Division 1 Football – Brian McCormick Sports;
- Division 2 Football – Marley Coach Hire;
- Division 3 Football – Yes Chef Catering; and,
- Division 4 Football – Mc Glynn’s Restaurant.
Finally, while it is far from ideal CLG Dhun na nGall welcome the Irish government’s announcement this evening that 100 spectators will be allowed back into matches from June 7th – just in time for the commencement of our leagues. For venues that can cater for more than 5,000 spectators 200 will be admitted. It is hoped there will be further easing in August and that greater numbers of spectators will be able to watch our club championship games.
