Today’s Streams

Donegal GAA planned to stream five games this weekend. Yesterday the Termon v Milford game streamed without a hitch. There were, however, two problems with Kilcar v Gaoth Dobhair game. Firstly, the stream did not go through to some people and secondly, others did not get their codes.

Both problems arose because of the shortcomings with our external Platform Provider. While this was extraneous to Donegal GAA, and beyond our control, we have taken steps regarding today’s games to address these issues – primarily by switching provider for the Naomh Conaill v Eunans game. As a result:

1. firstly, 89 people have already purchase codes from SVP. If they have already received these codes they will not work with then new provider – BeoSports. However, BeoSports are in the process of emailing new codes to these 89 people;

3. Finally, please note that while the pricing says €4.13 it is still €5 at check-out. BeoSports advertise the ex-Vat price.

For Aodh Ruadh-Naomh Columba and Cloich Cheann Fhaola v Buncrana we are still going with the original provider. The problem which arose yesterday with the stream was a new one that not manifested itself before and we hope these two games will stream fine. There are still problems with codes but very few so far they are being managed by our IT team via Facebook and the online chat.

Back to yesterday, CLG Dhún na nGall apologise for the two problems noted above. They both flowed from issues with our platform provider in the US. Most people did get perfect access to the game and the camera work and production values were of a very high quality. As such, the problem that did occur was in no way the fault of the hardworking professionals and volunteers at the chalk face who brought this excellent coverage to the majority. I commend all of them unreservedly.

To give access to those who had problems with the first half we streamed the second half of the game free on Facebook. Those who have since complained about not having Facebook I have directed to our Treasurer while those who complained that they paid while non-payers seen the second half for free I can only say the decision at half-time was taken that it was better to spread access than to deny those who had paid and didn’t have coverage. The PRO stands over that decision and would do the same again. The PRO has passed on the e-mails whats-apps, and text messages from those with grievances to our Treasurer.

Returning to the positives we have streamed 13 games to date, 9 of which were very successful and two with small problems. It was particularly unfortunate that both games with major problems featured Gaoth Dobhair. Donegal GAA and its volunteers are striving at all times to give our spectators the best coverage at all times. I apologise again for yesterday, and last Sunday’s problems and hopefully it will be fourteen successes out of sixteen by the end of today.
