The Scór na nÓg County finals at Dún na Lúb on Sunday proved a very enjoyable evening for the close to 300 people who attended the event. It was superbly, and hospitably, organised by CLG Roibéard Eiméid and choreographed expertly by Rosemary Coll.
Twelve clubs took part across seven different competitions – Iorras, Naomh Ádhamhnáin, Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn, An Clochan Liath Cloich Cheann Fhaola, Naomh Mhuire Conmhaigh, Naomh Micheál, Roibéard Eimíd Glean tSúilí, Bun a’ Phobail, Naomh Conaill and Naomh Columba.
Iorras were the winners of the first two events on the programme the Rince Foirne (Céili Dancing), with their Corr Casta, and Amhráníocht Aonair (solo singing) with Bronagh Harkin.
It was Naomh Ádhamhnáin’s turn to shine next with Siofra Harvey’s rendition of Bandraoí loch a’ Dúin the winner in the Aithriseoireacht/Scéalaíocht (recitation/storytelling) and also coming first in the Ghrúpa Baileád with Dulamán and The Flower of Magherally.
The Nucleas (novelty act) seen three superb ten minute productions form Roibeard Eimeid (The Smugglers), Gleann tSuilí (In the name of Murphy) and Gaeil Leitir Ceanainn (Patrick McNamee) with the Letterkenny men taking first place.
Ceoil Uirlise winners were An Clochan Liath with Emma’s Antics and Callaghan’s Fancy. Máistir na gCeist for Tráth na gCeisteanna was Eugene McGarvey from An Clochán Liath and it was won by a very impressive quarter from Naomh Columba who got 15 correct answers out of a possible thirty.
Adh mór to all the winners who will go on to represent Donegal in the Ulster semi-final in Stradone, County Cavan on December 8th. There they will be up gaist the winners as Aontroim, An Cabhán, Fear Manach agus Muineacháin.
