Not so long ago Buncrana looked very isolated at the foot of Division 2 but while still propping up the table their excellent form of recent weeks has given them a strong chance of survival with five of the ten teams caught up in the struggle of survival. Buncrana have Caolan McGonagle back from County duty and have five games left to play all of them against fellow strugglers with the first at home to Naomh Columba this Sunday. The remaining four are Dungloe (A), Naomh Columba (A), Termon (H) and Four Masters (A).
Four Masters are on ten points, two ahead of Buncrana but with two extra games played. Their three remaining ties are: Ardara (H), Glenfin (A) and Buncrana (H). Also on ten points are Naomh Columba but they have five games left, the two fixtures against Buncrana as well as Glenfin (A), Killybegs (A) and finishing at home to St Nauls. Termon on 12 points have Glenfin (H) this weekend, Buncrana (A) on Aug 25th and Killybegs at the Burn Road in their final game.
Sitting on 12 points with three games left to play are Termon have Glenfin at home on Aug 18, are away to Buncrana on Aug 25th and finish off their league season at home to Na Cealla Beaga on Aug 31st. Also on 12 points but with five to play, Dungloe look best placed of the five bottom teams but they have a tough run of fixtures. Their games start with Killybegs this weekend and Buncrana on Aug 16th while the final three weekends see them home to St Nauls (Aug 18th), away to Ardara (Aug 25th) and home to Glenfin in the final league game on Aug 31st. Glenfin on 14 points have a chance of promotion if they win all of their remaining games and could also be dragged into the relegation places but would need to lose all of their remaining games and also see other results go against them.
