Realt na Mara 4-13 Cloich Cheann Fhaola 2-10
A nine-point win for Realt na Mara does not reflect the tightness of this game until a final flourish saw the home side pull clear near the end of normal time.
Cloughaneely were first on the scoreboard but Realt responded immediately with a Cian McEniff goal. Cloughaneely soon levelled matters with a Darren Ferry goal and then regained the lead. They looked the hungrier side, dominating most of the half. Realt na Mara, however, hit a purple patch just before half time scoring 1-4 in the closing eight minutes. The goal, a penalty converted by Gary Clancy after Timmy Govorov was hauled down when one on one with Sean McClafferty earned Noel Sweeney a black card. HT 2-6 to 1-4.
Realt started the second half the way they ended the first and ten minutes in were 3-11 to 1-4 to the good. The rest of the half belonged to the visitors and with five minutes of normal time remaining the gap was down from 13 points to just four with Cloich Cheann Fhaola looking much the more likely to get a three-pointer. However, it was the home side who got the vital goal – a defensive mix-up left an alert Niall Carr with the simple task of tapping the ball into an empty net and Realt finished with a flourish as Cloich Cheann Fhaola were reduced to 14 men in added time.
