Four Masters had three points to spare over Buncrana in the Division 1 u-16 league final and had been cruising to victory before a third quarter fightback by the Inishowen team put the game back in the melting pot. 0-13 to 0-5 ahead at the break, the Donegal town boys had stretched their lead to 0-15 to 0-5 when the Buncrana blitz began. Goals from Oisin Kelly and Matthew Daly had them behind by just two points 2-18 to 0-16 at the end of the third quarter. However, despite Buncrana having the momentum a single point from Four Masters was the only score in the last fifteen minutes to leave the final score Four Masters 0-17 Buncrana 2-8. Dermot Slevin was Four Master’s top scorer with 14 points, albeit 8 of them from placed balls.
A stirring third quarter comeback was also a feature of the Division 2 final between Naomh Ultan and Red Hughes. However, the Dunkineely men’s momentum did not falter. Six points behind at the break, 1-4 to 3-4, scores were level 2-7 to 3-4 fifteen minutes in at which stage Red Hughes posted their first point of the second half to regain the lead. It was short-lived. Naomh Ultan’s third goal saw them move into a lead that they would built on to the end to win by 4-10 to 3-7. Jamie Kelly, Tómas OBuachalla, Kyle McGeoghan and Luke Gallagher, who also hit six points, were the goal-scorers for Naomh Ultan while Caolon McClintock, with 2-4 to his name, and Ryan Coyled score the goals for Red Hughs.
