Minors have an Ulster final in their sights

By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Tue 18th Jun

The Donegal minor team take on Monaghan in the Ulster Minor championship in Brewster Park this Friday evening at 8.00 pm. Having lost their first round tie against Tyrone, successive wins against Cavan (in Kingspan Breffni Park) and Armagh (in MacCumhaill Park) through the “backdoor” has lead them to the verge of an Ulster final.

Monaghan are a formidable barrier to further progress and will be a stern test to the young Donegal boys. They are unbeaten in this year’s championship with three victories under their belt They beat Down 1-3 to 1-0 in the preliminary Round, won 1-2 to 0-6 in Corrigan Park Belfast away to Antrim and surprised McGuigan Cup winners Tyrone with a 0-13 to 3-8 win in Carrickmore.

The other semi-final sees Tyrone take on Derry, also on Friday night at 8.00 in the Athletic grounds.
