Gaoth Dobhair elected to play with the breeze in the first half in Machaire Gathlán and had two points on the board within two minutes – Kevin Cassidy and Cian Ó Maolagáin the marksmen. Naomh Ádhamhnáin were soon back on level terms, with seven minutes gone on the clock, Jamie Doherty and Conor Gibbons converting frees. Gaoth Dobhair regained the lead, also from dead balls, converted by Eamonn Ó Colm and Odhrán Mac Niallais. St Eunans took the lead for the first and only time in the game when Jordan O’Dowd was fouled inside the area and Jamie Doherty converted the resultant penalty. The lead lasted a little over a minute with Eamonn Ó’Colm equalising to leave to 0-5 to 1-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The rest of the half was dominated by the home side with Gaoth Dobhair scoring 1-4 without reply to leave the half time score 1-9 to 1-2 with Cian Ó Maolagáin finishing to the back of the net after a good move up the field. Odhrán Mac Niallais with three frees and Ethán Ó Earcáin pointing from play were the other scorers.
Gaoth Dobhair stared the second half as they finished the first and had three more points on the board through Cian Ó Maolagáín, Odhrán Mac Niallais and Mícheál Ó Cearbhaill. At 1-12 to 1-3 it looked all over for St Eunans but they got the scoreboard ticking again hitting back with two converted frees before Odhrán Mac Niallais added Gaoth Dobhair’s last point fourteen minutes into the second half. The final quarter was dominated by the visitors but they had left themselves two much to do and despite hitting five points on the trot – two from Jamie Doherty and one a piece from Sean McGettigan, James Kelly and Peter McEniff – they finished on the wrong end of the 1-13 to 1-9 scoreline.
The results leaves placings in Brian McCormick Division 1 unchanged but Gaoth Dobhair are now two points clear of St Eunans as well as having a much better points difference and are within four points of leaders Cill Chartha.
