There were only two games in the Brian McCormick Division 1 league this weekend with away victories for both Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill.
Realt na Mara 3-10 Gaoth Dobhair 2-15
St Michael’s 0-11 Naomh Conaill 2-11
Gaoth Dobhair drew first blood in Gaelic Park, Bundoran but Realt na Mara quickly equalised and led for all of the first half. A devastating first nine minutes of the second half in which the visitors scored 1-5 without reply to take a 1-10 to 1-5 lead was the defining period of the game. While Bundoran twice came back to within two points they never got any closer. The game ended in a degree of controversy with Realt na Mara claiming considerably more added time should have been played but Gaoth Dobhair headed back up the road with two hard-won league points.
In Davy Brennan Memorial Park a Kieran Gallagher goal at the end of the first quarter was the difference between Naomh Conaill and Naomh Micheál for most of this game. It was 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time and tit for tat until a Logan Quinn goal early in final quarter put daylight between the sides and Naomh Conaill remained in control to see out the game and go two points ahead of Cill Chartha, but with two more games played, at the top of Division 1.
