Donegal minors next outing in the Electric Ireland Ulster minor championship will be against the winners of the the Armagh v Antrim tie which will be played this Saturday at the Athletic Grounds. Having lost to Tyrone at the weekend, Donegal now enter the backdoor system. The match on May 11th is scheduled for 6.00 pm in MacCumhaill Park with the winners decided on the day. If after extra time the sides remain level the game will go to penalties.
On Saturday Donegal went down to Tyrone on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-8. The Red Hand county goaled early and built on this early boost, hitting 1-2 before Donegal troubled the umpire in the 20th minute, to keep a constant four to five point gap between themselves and the home side. The Dún na nGall youngsters did not throw in the towel and either side of half-time they had their best periods of the game. A goal by substitute Paul O’Hare early in the second half put them right back in contention and a Johnny McGroddy point in the 49th minute gave the home side the lead. Tyrone, however, finished very strongly and four late points saw them home and Donegal into the back door system.
